Kate Nash - First North American Tour!

Award-winning UK singer-songwriter Kate Nash, who was recently named Best British Female at the BRITS Awards, is mounting her first North American tour this spring.

The NME Tour Awards kicks off April 15 in Atlanta, GA and winds down May 13 in San Francisco. Ticket demand has already resulted in a second show at New York's Webster Hall April 24, after the first show went clean in record time. Nash will also make a concert stop at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival on April 26.

The 20-year-old Nash released her debut album, “Made of Bricks,” in the States earlier this year to rave reviews and played a handful of dates in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Her Myspace page received a boost from fellow Brit Lilly Allen, who placed Nash in her Top 8, according to Wikipedia.org.

The NME Awards Tour is the third NME tour to hit the States, following outings featuring Kaiser Chiefs and The Hold Steady.

Heavy Metal gods Iron Maiden will return to the U.S.

Heavy Metal gods Iron Maiden will return to the U.S. for several shows this spring, as part of the band’s mammoth world tour. During the first leg of the tour, the band only had two American dates: Feb. 19 at the Los Angeles Form in Los Angeles, CA, and one next month on March 14 at the Izod Centre in East Rutherford, NJ. Both shows sold out months in advance.

The next leg of the band’s Somewhere Back in Time--World Tour 08 will take them to a number of cities they have not played in many years, along with a return to the Los Angeles area for two more nights at the Verizon Amphitheatre May 30-31. Tickets for the majority of these shows will go on sale to the public on March 1; information can be found on the band's website.

The Somewhere Back in Time--World Tour 08 was inspired by Maiden’s recently released DVD, “Live After Death” (New Door Records/Ume). Filmed and recorded over four nights at Long Beach Arena on the Powerslave Tour in 1985, this has long been a benchmark for rock concert videos and live albums, and the CD remains one of the biggest-selling live albums ever with sales in excess of six million worldwide. With the video having been largely unavailable for many years, the fan’s massive interest in this legendary concert continues to this day with the DVD debuting at No. 1 on charts around the world (including The UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and Finland), as well as No 2 on the Billboard USA Chart and in Canada.

This tour revisits the band’s history by focusing almost entirely on their classic 80’s period in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production of that Powerslave Tour as portrayed on the “Live After Death” DVD. This will arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented, and will include the colossal mummy of “Eddie” as featured on the “Live After Death” DVD, on many of the summer dates along with various other elements of the show that would not fit on the band’s private 757 on the first leg of this tour.

If ticket sales to the upcoming international shows is any indication, the band expects to play to more than 1.5 million fans in 2008. On the first leg, tickets in San Paolo, Brazil, at the 42,000 capacity Palmeiras Stadium sold out in just a week ; Mexico City’s 22,000 capacity Sports Arena sold out in a record-breaking four days leading to the show being moved to the 51,000 Foro Sol Stadium, which is already sold out, too; a first ever visit to Colombia, where first day ticket sales were the biggest for any music event ever, saw the Simon Bolivar Stadium in Bogota sell out the 30,000 original capacity in 10 days and this has now been extended to 50,000; 14,000 capacity arenas in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, sold out in less than half an hour with second shows being added in both cities; 25,000 fans in each of Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica have already snapped up all available tickets with the promoter asking the venues if he can get more fans in to see the show. In addition, three upcoming stadium shows in Sweden and Finland also sold out in mere hours.

American Idol Jordin Sparks opens for Alicia Keys tour

"American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks, who recently performed the national anthem to an audience of nearly 100 million viewers at Super Bowl XLII, will be the opening act on the upcoming Alicia Keys "As I Am" tour. The 18-year old Sparks, who just won the Outstanding New Artist award at the 39th NAACP Image Awards, will help kick-off the tour on April 19 in Hampton, VA. The 30-date tour wraps June 18 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Since the release of her critically acclaimed eponymous debut, Spark's first single, "Tattoo," shot up the charts and has resided in the Top 10 of Billboard's Pop 100 Airplay singles chart for close to two months; currently the single is holding on to the number seven slot for it's second week in a row. Her second single "No Air," a smash duet with label mate Chris Brown, is getting major radio support across the country and is already in the Top 20 on Billboard's Pop 100, Pop 100 Airplay and Hot Digital singles charts.

Billy Joel - Sold Out Show

Billy Joel has added a second – and final – show at Shea Stadium in July because tickets to the first show soldout so quickly. Called "The Last Play at Shea," the first concert, scheduled for July 16 sold more than 50,000 tickets in 48 minutes, according to organizers, prompting the second show, which is slated for July 18. The July 16 sellout, which was held Feb. 16, marked the fastest concert sell out in Shea's 44-year history.

According to published reports, many ticket buyers were locked out from buying tickets due to a server overload with the New York Mets’ online ticketing system. Ticket buyers were met with a message stating the servers were busy and then had to wait for a 60-second timer to count down before another attempt could be made.

Joel becomes only the fourth act to play multiple shows at Shea Stadium, joining Rock & Roll Hall of Famers the Beatles (1965, 1966), the Rolling Stones (1989), Elton John & Eric Clapton (1992), and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (2003). He also becomes the first artist in music history to have played all four of New York City's premier sporting venues: Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium, Giants Stadium and Madison Square Garden, where, in April 2006, he broke the record for longest sequence of sold-out shows by a single artist (12).

Summer 2008 - The Police Final Tour

The Police finally unveil their final tour dates [tickets]! Their 2007 reunion tour turned out to be the top-grossing concert tour of all time, now they are going to repeat history for one last time before retiring for good. Read below for detail info and itinerary.

"The Police will take one more victory lap through North America on their massively successful reunion tour before calling it quits for good, sources close to the tour tell Billboard.com.

The Police -- Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland -- will play another 30-odd dates in May and July in North America, with 15 previously announced European concerts sandwiched between in June. Elvis Costello & the Imposters will open the entire run of North American dates, which wraps the first week in August.

This final leg will play primarily amphitheaters with a few arenas, beginning May 1 in Ottawa. These will be the first-ever shed dates for the Police, as the amphitheater network present today was largely non-existent during the band's first go-round in the early 1980s. No festivals or stadiums will be part of the route.

Close to half the dates will be in markets not played last year in North America, where the tour began last May. The current leg finishes in Hawaii over the weekend.

These dates will be the last time the band performs together as the Police -- ever. But it has been a lucrative reunion, as the tour will likely end up in the $340 million gross range, with attendance north of three million. That would make it one of the top five highest-grossing tours of all time.

The Police reunion tour is promoted by Arthur Fogel, chairman of TNA International, the global touring arm of Live Nation. It is produced by RZO Productions."
